Selling your car to the right people

You should not only be careful when you are purchasing a secondhand car. You should also be careful when you are selling your car. There are many people out there that are trying to get a car for as cheap as possible. There are even people that are stealing the cars at the end of the day. Here are some things that you should consider when you are planning to sell your car privately.

When someone wants to test drive your vehicle

Yes, we all want to test drive a vehicle before you are purchasing it. And, it isn’t any different from a private sale. But, one thing should you remember. You don’t just give the car for a test drive. You are going with them. No matter what.

Do you realize how many vehicles are stolen this way? They are taking the car for a test drive to never return. You don’t have any information about the person and you are going to lose your car forever.

Paying cash, not bank deposit or check

To make sure that you don’t get scammed, you don’t allow bank deposits or check. Cash is the best way to make sure that the deal is really going through and that you are going to get your money.

If you need to accept check or bank deposits, you should wait until the bank clears the money, and you able to withdraw it before you are handling the vehicle over. If the buyer doesn’t want to wait for that period, it might be a sign that they weren’t legit in the first place.

Don’t ever give the car with the buyer paying in monthly installments

Many buyers are trying to buy a vehicle privately and still want to pay the vehicles off in installments. There is a good reason why private sells don’t recommend monthly installments. You might just get one or two payments and then the payments are going to stop.

You can’t do anything about it, because you aren’t a bank that can take the vehicle back.  The only thing that you can do is to report the vehicle as stolen and hope for the best. Make sure that you never agree on monthly payments, when you are selling your vehicle privately.

Take the person’s identification number and contact details

Even, if this is a cash deal. You should have all the information about the buyer. His name, surname, telephone number and address. And, for sure also his identification number. With this information, you can switch ownership and you can be sure to find the person if the payment doesn’t clear.

Selling your vehicle privately can also be really dangerous. There are many people out there that are always looking for suckers that aren’t going to be careful when they are selling their vehicle. With this information, you will know for sure that you are going to be able to sell your vehicle without encountering any problems.
